Employment Law: Litigation

The firm represents public and private sector employers in a wide range of employment related litigation. At the outset of each new case, we provide our clients with the information they need to identify desired objectives and direct the course of the litigation, including an analysis of the merits of the case, a range of possible exposure, and an estimate of legal fees and costs.

Our attorneys have successfully defended: discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims under Title VII and the CFEPA; discrimination claims under Section 1981, the ADA, the ADEA; wrongful termination claims; whistleblower claims; wage and hour claims under the FLSA; FMLA claims; and a variety of employment related common law tort and contract claims. We also regularly handle all types of constitutional claims maintainable against public employers and their officers and employees under Section 1983, including First Amendment claims asserting unlawful retaliation or the suppression of protected speech and Fourteenth Amendment claims alleging the denial of due process or equal protection of the law.

The firm has litigated pioneering public sector education law cases and has established more favorable precedents for school districts than any other firm in Connecticut. Many of our cases are featured in law school curricula, including in American Public School Law, a standard text that is used by the University of Connecticut School of Law and the University of Connecticut School of Education, among others.

For our private sector clients, we routinely bring and/or defend actions to protect their business interests, including claims asserting the breach of non-compete, non-solicitation and confidentiality agreements, and claims asserting the breach of fiduciary duties.
