Our Firm History What We Believe

History: Education, Labor & Employment Law Firm

While other firms have been content to write about the law, Sullivan, Schoen, Campane & Connon, LLC has helped create it. Founded in 1975 by Thomas N. Sullivan and the late Garry Vause, Sullivan, Schoen was one of the first Connecticut law firms devoted to representing school boards. Over thirty years later, our attorneys continue to provide highly specialized legal guidance on a full spectrum of education law issues such as board governance, special education, Freedom of Information requests, student discipline and residency, bidding and procurement procedures, vendor contracts, teacher discipline, building committees, and budget referendums.

In addition to education law, the firm’s practice areas have expanded to encompass all aspects of public and private sector labor and employment law. Our experienced labor and employment attorneys routinely assist clients in the negotiation and administration of collective bargaining agreements and advise them on a myriad of human resources issues, such as employee hiring, discipline and discharge.

Over the past thirty years, our attorneys have successfully litigated groundbreaking cases in both state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court, establishing legal precedents in the fields of education, labor and employment law that are repeatedly cited by courts and in scholarly works. In fact, no firm in Connecticut has created a more favorable body of law on behalf of school districts.

With decades of experience working with private and public sector clients across Connecticut, the firm has developed a reputation for providing timely, practical and effective legal advice.
